Jesus tells us, “Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.” (Mt 5:8) To see God is the ultimate goal of the Christian life, in that the Beatific Vision—Heaven itself—is where we look upon God and see Him face to face. We discover that to see God is to love Him with all one’s heart, with all one’s soul, and with all one’s mind. This loving relationship with God is perfected in Heaven, but begins here and now and is made accessible to all persons, no matter their vocation. Having a pure heart and seeing God are one and the same, and thus the call to purity is also universal.

It is hoped that this blog will serve as a prayerful reflection toward the richness of this Beatitude. The desire of the heart for a greater love of God, allows for a flame of love to form. St. Therese reminds us that “a soul afire with love cannot remain inactive.”
